What are the preferred software programs for large format color prints?
Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop, Acrobat, In Design, CorelDraw are preferred but others are accepted.
What resolution do my images need to be for large format printing?
A minimum of 200 dpi at the final output size is suggested. Vector based graphics and text (Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw) are scaleable to any size.
What should I include when I send in a file for large format color prints?
You should include the original file, plus all fonts and/or placed images used in the presentation. If color accuracy is important include a hard copy proof.
I have created my files in Microsoft Word. Can large prints be made from it?
Word processing and spreadsheet applications adjust margins and graphics based on printer description and are not recommended for print production. If files are created in these types of applications, a hard copy is required when submitting your order and additional charges for formatting could be incurred. For best results we recommend creating your file in one of the applications listed under supported software or supplying us with a .pdf of your document.
Can I submit my file over the internet?
Yes files can be submitted via e-mail or FTP (file transfer protocol). Large files (over 10 MB) should be sent in using our FTP site to ensure that they are received properly. Always include your name, phone number, company name, due date and billing/delivery instructions on your e-mail and FTP requests. We will also accept CD, DVD and Jump Drives.
Will Rapids Reproductions make corrections to my files for me?
For legal reasons we will not make any changes to your files without direction from you. All files submitted for production are processed “as is” unless other instructions have been agreed upon between Rapids Reproductions and the customer.
How soon can I expect my order?
Our standard turnaround is 24 hours. If your deadline is tighter than this please call and we will do our best to accommodate you.
What is the preferred format for large black and white CAD prints?
.pdf is preferred however we can accept a multitude of formats such as .tif, .dwg, .dwf, and .plt to name a few.
What file format can Rapids supply when scanning hardcopy?
Our scanners are set up to scan to .pdf, .tif, and .cal however we have the ability to convert these to almost any file format you need.
Where can I find a plan holders list for a project?
All plan holders lists are located in our Planroom.
